This is a 2002 Indian Hindi drama film directed by Aziz Mirza and starring Salman Khan, Amisha Patel, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal and Kiran Kumar. This film revolves around an NRI who falls in love with a traditional village girl back in India. The story starts off with Rajiv Malhotra (Salman Khan) living in America with his mom. He is a very good looking guy and his friends tell him he looks just like Salman Khan. This makes his mom very happy and she decides to send him back to India to meet her relatives. Rajiv has no clue what he is in for when he gets back home. He is shocked when he meets up with his dad who has arranged three girls for him to choose from. He also meets his two sisters and their mother in the car ride home. The first girl (Amisha Patel) that Rajiv chooses doesn’t even know who he is when they finally meet up before dinner. She tells him that this is not possible, but after she sees how nice Rajiv looks she thinks about it and agrees to see them later that night. Rajiv’s second choice is the second girl, who is very beautiful. After he talks to her he feels much better about his decision because she seems much smarter than the others. Then he runs into Priti (Kiran Kumar), which makes his mom very sad because Priti is from a much lower caste then the other two girls are.
Rajiv ends up falling in love with her but when they go out to dinner with the family Rajiv’s mom gets mad at him for not taking one of the rich girls and she yells at him in front of everybody. She tells him that if he isn’t going to marry one of these girls then he should leave and never come back. Rajiv tries to explain to his mom that he really is in love with Priti but his mom doesn’t want to hear it. She gets so angry at him that she throws him out of the house. Rajiv goes back home and tells his dad that he can’t marry one of these girls because they are not the right kind of people for him now. His dad tries talking with his mother-in-law but they end up having an argument about how they aren’t good enough for Rajiv. They start fighting and the whole family ends up getting in a big fight with them yelling at each other all night long.
Rajiv tells Priti to stay away from him because he doesn’t want her to get hurt. He decides to go back to America and she goes back home. When Rajiv gets back he is shocked that everyone is at the airport waiting for him. His dad had talked to his mother-in-law and fixed their argument just in time for Rajiv’s plane to arrive. Then Rajiv’s mom explains why she is upset with him, which makes him kind of mad but he finally understands why she was so upset with him for choosing Priti over all of the other girls.
